May I ask a question about Noah's flood and the geological record?
I have heard it often claimed by Creationists that Noah’s flood was responsible for all but the most recent deposits in the geological and fossil records. I have even heard them try to explain features that directly contraindicate a global flood, such as the chalk cliffs. Today I’ll set those aside, though, because I’m curious about something else.

Specifically, I’m curious about volcanoes. Like everything else in the geological record, we know about the deposits left behind by various volcanic processes because we’ve seen volcanoes erupt and been able to directly study the deposits they leave. This means we can tell whether a lava eruption happened above ground or below the water, and it means we know what a compacted ash layer looks like.

This is what I’m curious about, because you can’t really get a compacted ash layer from an underwater eruption. Underwater, the particulate matter which rains down as ash in an above ground eruption gets mixed with water and sediment from the bottom of whatever lake, sea, or ocean the eruption is taking place in, and forms a mud slick that we’re able to differentiate from an above ground deposition of ash.

Now then, in quite a few places around the globe, we find compacted ash layers deposited between sedimentary layers, under and over lava or mud floes, etc… and I’m wondering where that fits in with the idea that Noah’s flood is what created the geological and fossil records of the Earth, since to get those geological deposits, the area would have had to be devoid of water at the time.

Did God stop the flood, scoot all the water out of an area, then let the volcano erupt before patting down the ash and tossing some sediment on top of it, and then put the floodwaters back after he was done, or what?
Well, George, in answer to your question, finding an ash layer on top of a sedimentary layer tells us two things:

1) It tells us that at one point the land in question was underwater, because it would have to have been for a sedimentary layer to build up on it.

2) It tells us that land was subsequently devoid of water, because the deposition of the ash layer would have required dry land.

Oh, and I just finished looking at Answersingenesis… while they mention ash layers in passing while referring to other things, they are conspicuously silent as to how the ash layers themselves must be deposited.

Well since I had a similiar situation like this…I would stare at them strangely to make sure they were coming towards my window, then I would frantically look for my cell phone and dial the police. While I’m on the phone with them stuttering my address and what’s going on, I’m looking for my pepper spray and bat and I’m setting off my alarm. I’m also wondering if there are people at the other doors and this guy is just a distraction and I’ll probably wet myself. I would keep an eye on him from the window and be prepared to kick some ass if I had to.

Also during this time all the lights would be turned off.

The book "Debunking 9/11 Debunking" does an excellent job of refuting the Popular Mechanics article that attempts to support the 9/11 Commission Report. The Commission Report is full of inaccuracies, omissions, and misleading statements. It was put together as a white wash within the firm control of the White House.

There is no credible official theory that explains the destruction of three buildings (WTC 1, WTC 2, and WTC 3) at free fall speed into the foot print of the buildings. The destruction of the buildings look very much like a carefully planned demolition. In fact, this is the simplest and most credible of all explanations. Physics Professor Steven Jones of BYU showed that the steel frame core of the building had to be destroyed first. The Commission report claimed that the steel core did not exist (a lie). Jones also discovered chemical evidence of thermite/thermate at the site.

Sadly, media and official government sources continue the fiction. Do you want to take the blue pill or the red pill?
